An award-winning writer and editor,

Larry Nagengast has the skills and experience that editors and businesses search for when they need a talented wordsmith to execute their most important projects.

A graduate of Fordham University and the prestigious Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, Larry served as an officer in the U.S. Navy before beginning a career in journalism.

As a reporter and editor with the News Journal papers in Wilmington, Del., Larry covered schools, courts, government and consumer issues, guided the operations of the features sections and supervised a team of staff and freelance writers to produce six zoned weekly community news sections. He won national awards for his education writing and regional awards for his coverage of consumer news.

After spending several years leading the public relations team of a Delaware advertising and public relations agency, he established his own business, Larry Nagengast Public Relations and Communications, to provide top-quality writing and editing for print and online media and skilled public relations consulting to businesses, nonprofits and government officials.

Larry has written one book, Pierre S. du Pont IV, Governor of Delaware, 1977-1985, an oral history of the du Pont administration, for the Delaware Heritage Commission, and has edited three others, including Vietnam Mailbag, Voices From the War, 1968-1972, an award-winning social history by Nancy E. Lynch, and The Heart of America, a collection of images from all 50 states by photojournalist Kevin Fleming that was recognized as one of “America’s Best” by Reader’s Digest magazine. Larry’s feature and news articles appear online for Delaware Public Media and in several publications, including Delaware Today, Delaware Beach Life and Out & About magazines. His contributions to Delaware Public Media have won awards from the Delaware Press Association and the National Federation of Press Women.
